While I was doing "the 20-year introspective lesson as prescribed by the great Ancients", I discovered how basic time travel works..
In a deep trance time travel meditation I saw a huge early T.Rex leaning against a tree in the moonlight, sleeping..  Seemed it had to sleep standing so little pest things wouldn't crawl up its nostrils..  It's skin seemed translucent, as if there wasn't any pigment what so ever in its skin..  It's tissues, veins, and muscles seemed to show about 40% visible as if it was encased in an almost clear bag..  I suppose skin pigments came millions of years later..  It probably had to exist in shade exclusively, or sustain serious sunburn..  Maybe sunburn caused mutation is what triggered skin pigments to happen in early dinos..?  Maybe early skin pigments were a result of sunburned blood..?  Just guessing...

Light and shadow make the the texture of the scales so real. Amazing details!
Almost can feel the breath (maybe not very enjoyable).

you cant know it exactly. Even if theropods are closely related to birds, they also are relatives of the reptiles, in fact they are a special group of reptiles. And as many lizard and crocodiles have some sort of spikes or spines, it could be that T rex had them too. Many images show them with some sort of spines that go along his back. Also other dinosaurs had them. Sauropods for example are believed to have spikes and Carnotaurus who is actually a theropod is believed to have some too.
